Slow down. Private cabins with sauna in Lofoten, Norway
Two houses in Lofoten, sauna included. Weather not included – but usually worth it.
Base camp, upgraded. Reine for the west: Reinebringen on foot, Bunes beach by boat. Lyngvær for the middle: Henningsvær about 15 minutes by car. Reine sleeps up to nine, Lyngvær six; both have a sauna, both are rented whole: no reception, no shared walls, just you and the view. The rest is mountains.
Andi & MichiTwo houses. Two sides of Lofoten.
Three bedrooms each: Reine for up to nine guests, Lyngvær for six. Each has its own sauna. No shared walls, no shared sauna, no reception desk.

Reine
Reine, in the heart of Lofoten – the place that stands for the islands like no other. A house on its own plot: the Reinebringen trail is a walk away, and a real outdoor sauna waits in its own little hut next to the house.

Lyngvær
On the water in the middle of the islands, about 15 minutes by car from Henningsvær. The best plot in the settlement – private, with panorama windows and a Harvia sauna.
Explore the Lyngvær housePrivate. Well placed. That's the point.
The whole house, always. Every room, the sauna, the grounds. Nobody through the wall.
Reine: on its own plot above the fjord. Unobstructed view, the Reinebringen trail within walking distance. Our bias, stated openly: we think it is the best spot in Reine.
Lyngvær: on the shore in the middle of the islands. Part of a small holiday-home settlement, on the best plot in it – very private all the same. About 15 minutes to Henningsvær, short drives everywhere else.
Hosted by the owners. When you write, Andi or Michi answers. Day job: Spreadfilms, the film production company they founded together at 18. The houses are their joint project – the one without a client brief.

A day here, roughly.
No itinerary needed. The weather sets the plan, you adjust.

Morning
Coffee at the big window. The peaks turn pink before the village is up.

Outside
A hike, a beach or a fishing village. Back before the light goes.

Sauna
Heat, cold air, heat again. Repeat until dinner.

Evening
Candles lit, dinner in, one eye on the sky for the northern lights.

Northern lights in winter. The midnight sun in summer.
Late August to mid-April, the nights are dark enough for the aurora. Late May to mid-July, the sun does not set at all. In between: snow down to the shoreline, autumn colours and empty roads.

Around the houses
Lofoten, right outside.
Reinebringen
Close to 2,000 steps up to the best-known view in Lofoten. The trail starts within walking distance of the Reine house.
Go early – or late on a summer night.Bunes beach
Small ferry from Reine to Vindstad, then a short walk over to a wild beach between the mountains.
Pack lunch. There is nothing out there, which is the point.Henningsvær
The fishing village on the skerries: cafés, galleries and that football pitch. About 15 minutes by car from Lyngvær.
Best in the evening, once the day visitors have left.
Plan your trip.
The practical part: flights, ferries, seasons and what to pack.

Andi & Michi
Your hosts, in person.
Andi and Michi own the houses and answer your messages themselves. Ask them anything: where to hike, where to eat, where to wait for the aurora.
From the journal.

Good questions
What is Lofoten Luxury Home?
Two privately owned holiday homes in Lofoten, Norway – one in Reine, one in Lyngvær, about 15 minutes by car from Henningsvær. Andi and Michi own both and host them directly. You always rent the whole house, never a room.
How private are the houses?
Very. You always rent the whole house – every room, the sauna, the grounds. The Reine house stands alone on its own plot with an unobstructed view over Reinefjord. Lyngvær is part of a small holiday-home settlement, sits on the best plot in it and feels very private all the same.
Reine or Lyngvær – which house is right for us?
Reine puts you in the dramatic west of Lofoten, with the famous peaks, Reinebringen and the beaches of Moskenesøya on your doorstep. Lyngvær sits on the water in the middle of the islands, close to Henningsvær and Svolvær – a calmer base with short drives in every direction. With a week or more, split your stay between both.
How many guests can stay?
Both houses have 3 bedrooms. Reine takes up to 9 guests, with a box-spring double bed in each bedroom plus a sofa bed and an extra bed, and 1 bathroom. Lyngvær takes up to 6 guests: two bedrooms with a double bed, one with two single beds, and 2 bathrooms.
When is the best time to visit Lofoten?
Depends on what you are after. Northern lights: roughly late August to mid-April, when nights are dark. Midnight sun: around late May to mid-July. Snow and winter light: January to March. Hiking: June to September. No season is a bad one – each is a different trip.
